Have you ever wished you had a mentor, an extra adult to talk to when you were growing up? Then become a mentor, who spends an hour a week being a positive role model, listening and doing activities with a student for 1 hour each week during school hours during the school year.
EdConnect Australia are seeking volunteers with general life skills to help young people in secondary schools who are at risk of disengaging in education.
Our volunteers come from many walks of life and age groups. You may be retired or semi retired and looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity, a tertiary student wanting to gain experience with young people or perhaps working in an organisation that supports volunteering. What our mentors have in common is a genuine desire to help students, be patient, non-judgmental and a good listener.
Many of our current volunteers find this program personally rewarding as they help students thrive. The impact volunteers can make on a young person’s life goes well beyond their school years. This is an opportunity to not only help, shape, and support young people and schools, it may even enrich a volunteer's life as well.
