Maureen* spent many years working in the hospitality industry and has owned many of her own cafes throughout Melbourne. Maureen has always loved eating out, although since losing her license hasn’t been able to get out as much. Maureen describes herself as quick witted and a bit of joker! Maureen would love to connect with an outgoing volunteer with a good sense of humour to spend time sampling the menus of new restaurants and cafes. Are you passionate about making a difference in your community?

This dynamic role will allow you to improve the social connections within your local community whilst getting to know new and interesting people with lots of life experience to share!

The role will involve providing short term social engagement to customers living in an area whilst they wait for a longer term volunteer connection. Each visit may entail checking in on 3-5 customers for a quick chat and catch up.

The successful applicant will have the availability and openness to visit and connect with multiple customers across the course of the week/fortnight. Time management will be essential to ensure that regular contact with customers is provided.
Access to a car is highly desirable. Opportunities for fuel reimbursement available.

Our Social Connections Program supports people aged over 65 to get back to the things they love and reconnect with their community through Volunteer Engagement.

Our Social Connection Program is led by Volunteers, who provide meaningful support through a range of activities including:

• Local group outings
• Special interest groups
• One on one visits
• Phone-based connections
• Centre-based activities
• Community Transport (Grampians)

Whether it’s enjoying a conversation over a cup of coffee at someone’s home, learning a new hobby together or getting out and about in the community to do something fun, we have an opportunity for everyone. Our volunteers have such a positive impact on the people they connect with and their local communities.

Uniting Social Support Program keeps people connected to the community to support them to live a happy and healthy life. The program assists people to keep doing the things they love.

We require friendly, fun loving volunteers with a strong understanding of professional boundaries  to assist in the facilitation of the Hallam Morning Melodies group. The group provides a recreational and social outlet for participants. The role will require you to draw on your group facilitation skills while supporting people to build valuable connections and enjoy group activities as part of their social goals.

The selected applicant will have effective communication skills and demonstrate confidence to facilitate and support group discussion and participation. Be prepared to use your own vehicle to provide transport assistance to consumers with reduced mobility, who may require the use of a four-wheel walker or stick.

You'll have respect for diversity and support a positive interaction between participants in the group, and the skills and confidence to work independently. Brenda has always enjoyed the atmosphere and experience of visiting a café. Brenda worked as a barista for many years and has a great appreciation for all things caffeine! Following the pandemic,Brenda, like many, has struggled to leave her home and be in public places and crowds. Brendan would love to be connected with a coffee loving volunteer to accompany him on outings to local cafes to improve his confidence to get out and about again.

Do you want to part of a dedicated, supportive team?  Do you want to help make as difference through education?

We are looking for volunteers to work in our Front Office, supporting our existing Customer Service and Administration Team.

Monday to Friday 9.00am to 2.30pm (flexible)

Tasks include answering incoming phone calls and supporting front office staff with tasks.

The ideal volunteers would have existing basic general administration skills and reasonable proficiency with computers.

On the job training will be provided, so volunteers who are able to commit to long term is preferred.

All volunteers will need to obtain a Volunteer Working with Children Check (we can help with that), and will undergo a formal induction.
