Maureen* spent many years working in the hospitality industry and has owned many of her own cafes throughout Melbourne. Maureen has always loved eating out, although since losing her license hasn’t been able to get out as much. Maureen describes herself as quick witted and a bit of joker! Maureen would love to connect with an outgoing volunteer with a good sense of humour to spend time sampling the menus of new restaurants and cafes. We offer opportunities in skill and knowledge development, as well as ongoing support and mentoring. Good communications skills and the ability to work independently are a must. Having a driver’s licence/access to own vehicle is highly desired but not essential. We value diversity in lived experience, language, skills and abilities.

Our Social Connections Program supports people aged over 65 to get back to the things they love and reconnect with their community through Volunteer Engagement.

Our Social Connection Program is led by Volunteers, who provide meaningful support through a range of activities including:

• Local group outings
• Special interest groups
• One on one visits
• Phone-based connections
• Centre-based activities
• Community Transport (Grampians)

Whether it’s enjoying a conversation over a cup of coffee at someone’s home, learning a new hobby together or getting out and about in the community to do something fun, we have an opportunity for everyone. Our volunteers have such a positive impact on the people they connect with and their local communities.

Uniting AgeWell provides volunteers with training and induction, supervision and ongoing opportunities for learning and development.

We are seeking volunteers to visit older people in your local area who would benefit from regular contact, conversation and social outings! This might involve visiting someone at home for an hour or two once a week or sharing an outing to the cinema or a café. This flexible role is a great way to make a difference in someone’s life whilst also making a great contribution to your community.

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community?

This dynamic role will allow you to improve the social connections within your local community whilst getting to know new and interesting people with lots of life experience to share!

The role will involve providing short term social engagement to customers living in an area whilst they wait for a longer term volunteer connection. Each visit may entail checking in on 3-5 customers for a quick chat and catch up.

The successful applicant will have the availability and openness to visit and connect with multiple customers across the course of the week/fortnight. Time management will be essential to ensure that regular contact with customers is provided.
Access to a car is highly desirable. Opportunities for fuel reimbursement available.

We are looking for volunteers to work in our Front Office, supporting our existing Customer Service and Administration Team.

Monday to Friday 9.00am to 2.30pm (flexible)

Tasks include answering incoming phone calls and supporting front office staff with tasks.

The ideal volunteers would have existing basic general administration skills and reasonable proficiency with computers.

On the job training will be provided, so volunteers who are able to commit to long term is preferred.

All volunteers will need to obtain a Volunteer Working with Children Check (we can help with that), and will undergo a formal induction.
