Uniting Social Support Program keeps people connected to the community to support them to live a happy and healthy life. The program assists people to keep doing the things they love.

We require friendly, fun loving volunteers with a strong understanding of professional boundaries  to assist in the facilitation of the Hallam Morning Melodies group. The group provides a recreational and social outlet for participants. The role will require you to draw on your group facilitation skills while supporting people to build valuable connections and enjoy group activities as part of their social goals.

The selected applicant will have effective communication skills and demonstrate confidence to facilitate and support group discussion and participation. Be prepared to use your own vehicle to provide transport assistance to consumers with reduced mobility, who may require the use of a four-wheel walker or stick.

You'll have respect for diversity and support a positive interaction between participants in the group, and the skills and confidence to work independently. Maureen* spent many years working in the hospitality industry and has owned many of her own cafes throughout Melbourne. Maureen has always loved eating out, although since losing her license hasn’t been able to get out as much. Maureen describes herself as quick witted and a bit of joker! Maureen would love to connect with an outgoing volunteer with a good sense of humour to spend time sampling the menus of new restaurants and cafes. We offer opportunities in skill and knowledge development, as well as ongoing support and mentoring. Good communications skills and the ability to work independently are a must. Our Social Connections Program supports people aged over 65 to get back to the things they love and reconnect with their community through Volunteer Engagement.

Our Social Connection Program is led by Volunteers, who provide meaningful support through a range of activities including:

Volunteer Mentor Drivers support learner drivers as they gain supervised driving experience. The role focuses on encouragement, supervision, and confidence-building rather than formal driving instruction.Mentors provide a calm and supportive environment to help learners build their driving hours and progress toward their probationary licence.

Key Responsibilities
Supervise learner drivers during scheduled driving sessions
Provide encouragement and support in a calm and respectful environment
Model safe and responsible driving behaviour
Follow all road rules and program safety guidelines
Communicate with Donate 2 Drive staff regarding scheduling or concerns

What This Role Is Not
No formal teaching or test preparation required
No transport of learners outside scheduled sessions

Safety-focused and responsible
Reliable and professional
Interested in helping others gain independence
Previous mentoring or community involvement is welcomed but not required.

Time Commitment
